Observation

I remember the objects of my childhood vividly: the weight and strange lustre of Tetley Tea figurines, the brittle transparency of Holly Hobby melted-plastic window ornaments, the ka-klunk and roll of gumballs in the dispenser, the sparkles embedded in my bike’s banana seat. I remember the (painful) sharp-edged slate of our fireplace hearth, the scent of heated shingles in my under-the-roof eaves playhouse, and the Congoleum floor that looked like tinted Cream of Wheat.

That love of close observation, now trained into habit, is woven throughout my practice. Through photography, travel, and daily routines, I collect colours, textures, objects, and small atmospheric details that often become the starting point for creative work.

Curation

For as long as I can remember, I’ve been drawn to creating spaces. Elaborate blanket forts gave way to drawing blueprints of dream houses as my teenage bedroom became a series of test projects for imagined worlds: an Egyptian tomb with hand-painted hieroglyphs and leopard prints, a “Java House” complete with a cappuccino bar and carefully arranged objects.

My favourite pastimes have always involved thrift-shop haunting, garage-saling, collecting, rearranging, and curating the ordinary into something that felt meaningful. I’m especially drawn to material culture, ordinary objects invested with unusual care, craftsmanship, and the atmosphere created by intentional choices.

This instinct for gathering and arranging informs both Visual Gathering and the Interior Narrative, a process that begins by editing and deeply appreciating the belongings you already hold dear, before layering in the slow, intentional sourcing of unique, character-rich objects so your space feels cohesive, personal, and lived in.

Design

My early fascination with reimagining my living space eventually led me to study interior design, and interior styling remains an active part of my practice. What intrigues me most is more than surface decoration alone - I’m interested in the ‘how’ and ‘why’ of architecture, the rituals that bring focus to domestic life, and the subtle ways spaces shape how we feel and move through them. Everything I’ve done, from kitchen design and interior styling, pottery, studio instruction, reselling, photography, drawing ordinary objects, and content capture, belongs to the same inquiry – how does good design show us who we are?

Through the Identity Edit, I help individuals and small businesses clarify the feeling, story, and visual language of their work so that their spaces, communications, and digital presence feel more coherently aligned with who they are and what they have to offer.

Making

Making keeps me grounded.

Pottery is the most tactile expression of my practice: earth transformed through balance, utility, and the quiet rituals of everyday use. Whether I’m hand-building a mug, arranging a room, gathering visual references, or helping someone articulate what makes their work distinctive, I’m interested in creating work that feels purposeful, considered, and genuine.

The Background Behind the Practice

While my approach is rooted in art and observation, my practice is backed by a diverse, multi-disciplinary career in design, education, and media creation. I bring a highly trained eye and practical strategy to every project, drawing from:

Interior Design & Styling: Formal training in Interior Design, paired with hands-on experience in kitchen layout design and staging for a high-end furniture environment.

Design & Art Education: A degree in Art History and years of experience as a graphic design, pottery and studio art instructor, allowing me to clearly guide clients through the "why" and "how" of visual communication.

Visual Communications: Experience shaping community messages, designing printed visual materials, and documenting digital stories for meaningful public communications.

The Maker's Eye: A background in 2D art and a practice in hand-built pottery, ensuring every texture, colour palette, and spatial layout is handled with immense care and craftsmanship.
